Qantas supports Victorian bushfire appeal
The Qantas Group said today it had donated $100,000 to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund to support individuals and communities affected by the weekend’s bushfires.
The Chief Executive Officer of Qantas, Mr Alan Joyce, said the scale of the tragedy was difficult to fathom.
"So many people have been affected by these catastrophic bushfires in so many ways,” Mr Joyce said.
“As always, the Australian community has mobilised quickly to provide support to those who need it.
“In addition to this $100,000 donation, people visiting qantas.com and jetstar.com will be able to link directly to the appeal and make a donation.
“We are also examining ways in which we can do more over coming days and weeks.”
Mr Joyce said some Qantas and Jetstar employees in Victoria had been affected by the bushfires.
“We are doing everything we can to support our people during what must be an extremely difficult time,” he said.
