New Jetstar Perth low fare connections to Singapore

Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar has announced new connections to Singapore* via its daily Indonesian services (Denpasar and Jakarta) which will offer full connectivity options for passengers travelling onto Europe with Qantas.

From 14 July 2009* Jetstar will operate its existing four times weekly Perth-Denpasar (Bali) and three times weekly Perth-Jakarta A320 services onwards to Singapore* and return. (* Flights subject to regulatory approval).

Representing a further expansion of Jetstar’s short haul international operations from Perth to support its near Asian growth strategy, all services will commence and terminate in Perth with the same flight number in each direction.

The timings of these new daily Singapore* connections will allow northbound connectivity for passengers flying with Qantas to and from Singapore onto Frankfurt and London. These services will also offer a same day northbound connection to Mumbai with Qantas from Singapore.

The new connections are in addition to Jetstar’s existing daily direct Perth-Singapore A320 flight which was introduced from 2 December 2008 as an incremental Qantas Group service on this popular route.

Jetstar backs its every day low fares commitment to customers with a Price Beat Guarantee, which means when booking on Jetstar at a similar date or time we will beat any competitor by 10 per cent (see Jetstar.com for terms and conditions).

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said these new international through services from Perth to Singapore* supported Jetstar’s developing plans for the Western Australian capital as part of its evolving Pan Asian strategy to better connect both Australia with Asia as well as undertaking more flying within the region.

“These new international services bring more low fare opportunities to travel intra-Asia as well between Perth and Singapore* through Jetstar’s every day low fare services,” Mr Buchanan said.

“Perth is a strategic port in the development of our Pan Asian network.

“These new services effectively double Jetstar’s existing capacity into Singapore from Perth and importantly provide both Australian and international travellers with a seamless northbound connection in Singapore to meet key Qantas international services through to Europe.

“Our future introduction of interline ticketing, initially through Qantas, as well as planned future interline and ticket settlement agreements with a number of leading Asian and European international carriers, will also provide future stimulus to these flights, and likely down the line benefits to the Western Australian tourism industry.”

Last week Jetstar announced the establishment of a pilot base in Perth to help support the growth of its international services and growing footprint into near Asia.

“Establishing a pilot base in Perth is the next step in the development of our Perth hub and the further growth of our links between Australia and Asia,” Mr Buchanan said.
