Jetstar to launch non-stop flights to Lombok from September

  • Jetstar to introduce the first ever non-stop service between Australia and Lombok
  • Special sale fares starting $119 per person one way
  • Lombok to become the fifth destination for the Jetstar Group in Indonesia

Jetstar today announced it would begin flying between Perth and the Indonesian island of Lombok from 24 September^.

The new route will be the first non-stop service from Australia to the emerging tourism destination.

To celebrate the launch of the new service, Jetstar will be offering special sale fares of $119* one way from Perth to Lombok.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand Chief Executive Officer David Hall said he was excited to introduce Lombok as the airline’s 15th international destination.

“As we enter our 10th year of flying, we are delighted to be the first carrier to introduce non-stop services from Australia to Lombok,” Mr Hall said.

“The size and scale of Jetstar allows us to open new routes and provide opportunities for more people to travel more often.

“Increasing our presence in South East Asia builds on our strategy to be the low fares leader in the region.”

Lombok is a small island located 1600 kilometres north-west of Darwin offering a mix of accommodation and activities for the leisure market and is described as reminiscent of Bali in the 1990s.

Jetstar will operate four flights each week to the island and Mr Hall said Lombok would become a popular choice for Australians wanting a relaxing holiday destination.

“We know from our experience that the introduction of a low fares carrier helps create new market demand and has a positive impact on the tourism sector,” he said.

“Lombok is the 62nd port for the Jetstar Group and this new route launch demonstrates our determination to provide more low fares to more destinations than ever before.”

The new service will be operated by an Airbus A320, flying on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday with a flight time of around three hours and 40 minutes. Jetstar’s lead-in fare for the route starts at $179.

Sale fares start at $119* and will be available from 12pm AEST Monday 17 June until 0159am AEST Thursday 20 June (unless sold out prior) and are valid for travel between Tuesday 15 October and Tuesday 3 December 2013 and Tuesday 4 February to Thursday 27 March 2014.
