Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar is to further expand its Perth flying hub with the launch of a new daily Sydney-Perth service to commence from 2 October 2009.
Representing Jetstar’s 42nd and latest domestic flight market, the future daily A320 service further supports Jetstar’s sustainable growth of both its Perth and Sydney domestic operations, with Sydney to now support a base schedule of up to 220 weekly return Jetstar low fare domestic services.
Jetstar’s entry on the competitive Sydney-Perth route complements an existing domestic network from Perth to Melbourne (double daily / 14 times weekly), Adelaide (daily / 7 times weekly) and Cairns (3 times weekly).
The airline will grow its domestic seat capacity in Perth by at least a further 1200 weekly seats with its new Sydney-Perth service.
Jetstar’s fast developing international operations from Perth also include twice daily A320 services between Perth and Singapore, including a daily direct Perth-Singapore flight, and from 13 August 2009* expansion of its current Perth-Denpasar (Bali) service rising to daily from 4 times weekly as well as Perth-Jakarta* services which will operate in the future 2 times weekly. .
To celebrate the launch of its Sydney-Perth service, Jetstar will offer special one way JetSaver Light fares at Jetstar.com from $99 for a strictly limited period commencing 10am (AEST)/ 8am (AWST) and ending 1pm (AEST)/ 11am (AWST) on Wednesday 29 July 2009 unless seats sell out prior.
The offer is for travel between 20 October 2009 – 10 December 2009. Conditions apply. See Jetstar.com.
Jetstar backs its every day low fares commitment with the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee, which means when booking on Jetstar at a similar date and time the airline will beat any competitor by 10 per cent.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said the low fares leader had increased its operating capacity and overall flight services into and from Perth by more than three-fold over the past year and now offered a total future schedule of 47 weekly domestic and international return services from the Western Australian capital.
Mr Buchanan said Jetstar was providing greater opportunities for people to fly or connect from its expanding domestic and international flying hub from Perth by offering more affordable flight choices.
“Our Sydney-Perth service will represent the sixth new Jetstar destination to be served from Perth inside the last year and will ably support our vision for developing a significant flying hub with both growing domestic flying and by bringing Perth in easier reach to Asia through our every day low fare offerings and expanding international services,” Mr Buchanan said.
“We also remain well placed, supported by significant future aircraft fleet deliveries over coming years, to only further develop Jetstar’s already large and growing presence in Sydney, Australia’s largest air gateway.
“Jetstar continues to build on our significant presence in the Sydney market with our new daily Sydney-Perth offering following hard on the heels of our recently announced doubling of Sydney-Darwin services.
“Jetstar enjoys a strong long standing relationship with Tourism NSW and last month we entered a three year multi-million dollar strategic marketing partnership to drive increasing domestic and international travel to New South Wales.”
