Jetstar takes off to Japan's food capital Osaka

Tuesday 2 April 2024: Jetstar is celebrating the relaunch of Australia’s only direct service between Sydney and Osaka (Kansai), with the airline’s first flight taking off this morning.

The flight marks the first time in 15 years the low-cost carrier has operated this route, reintroducing convenient, low-cost travel to Japan’s second biggest city after Tokyo.

Using its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, Jetstar will operate three return services per week, offering more than 100 thousand low fares seats between Sydney and Osaka every year.

As Jetstar celebrates its 20th birthday, these direct flights continue the airline’s mission to help customers take off to more places, more often through great low fares.

Jetstar’s Executive Manager, Customer Jenn Armor said the airline was excited to be able to offer another low-cost travel route between Australia and Japan.

“Australians’ love for Japan continues to grow and the strength of the Australian dollar against the Yen means it’s incredibly affordable right now," Ms Armor said.

“This is the third direct service we’ve launched from Australia to Japan in the last six months and the second to Osaka, with strong demand for our existing flights.

“As the food capital of Japan, Osaka has so much to offer Aussie travellers, with incredible night markets, street stalls and Michelann star restaurants.

“We currently have great low fares from Sydney to Osaka from just $363^ available at jetstar.com.”
