Jetstar launches first direct service to Lombok

  • Jetstar becomes the only airline to fly direct between Australia and Lombok
  • More than 150 passengers were onboard the inaugural flight
  • To celebrate the first flight Jetstar is offering sale fares starting from $129*

Jetstar’s inaugural Perth-Lombok flight took off this morning, marking the start of the only non-stop Australian service to the idyllic tourism destination.

Lombok is an Indonesian island located 150 kilometers east of Bali and is the fifth Indonesian destination in the Jetstar network.

Jetstar Chief Executive Officer David Hall said the newest addition to the airline’s Indonesian network was an exciting proposition for West Australian holiday makers.

“We have a proud track record of opening up new travel frontiers, having successfully grown from a small domestic Australian carrier to become the largest low fares airline in the Asia Pacific region,” Mr Hall said.

“Indonesia is the second most popular overseas destination for Australians with nearly one million tourists departing for Indonesia each year.

“As more holiday makers have the opportunity to experience Lombok, with its pristine beaches and natural attractions, we expect it will quickly become one of the most popular destinations in our network.

“Lombok is a beautiful part of South East Asia and we’re proud to make this vibrant destination more accessible for Australian travellers.”

Perth Airport Executive General Manager, Fiona Lander said the new service brings more choice for Western Australian travellers.

“We worked collaboratively with Jetstar to establish this new service, and we are delighted that Western Australians and Indonesians will have this exciting direct travel opportunity,” Ms Lander said.

Jetstar customers on the flight will be greeted upon arrival by Lombok transport and tourism officials.

The service will be operated by an Airbus A320, with four flights departing Perth each week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The flight time is approximately three hours and 40 minutes.

To celebrate the launch of the first flight Jetstar will be selling special sales fares from $129 one-way* from now until Saturday 28 September to 1:59pm (AEST).
