Jetstar boosts capacity to Indonesia by 48%
- Jetstar Asia adds new capacity to Medan and Surabaya
- Two new aircraft for Jetstar Asia to service new Indonesian capacity
- Third Jetstar Travel Shop opens in Central Jakarta
The Jetstar Group continues to grow its presence in Indonesia with the announcement of another capacity increase for Jetstar Asia and the opening of its third Jetstar Travel Shop – its second in Jakarta.
Jetstar Asia has announced an additional four weekly services to Medan* and Surabaya* respectively from Singapore, resulting in 14,352 seats of new monthly capacity between Singapore and Indonesia. The addition of new services follows the carrier’s recent announcement of more flights to Jakarta, Medan and Bali also to commence end October.
The combined increases will boost the Jetstar Group’s capacity to all the Indonesian ports by about 48 per cent from the end of October, equivalent to a total of 96,720 seats per month from Singapore.
Jetstar Asia CEO Bara Pasupathi said that Indonesia has always been a very important country in the Jetstar Group’s international network.
“The recent opening of air traffic rights for foreign carriers to operate in Indonesia has allowed Jetstar to capitalize on the demand for our services not only to destinations we currently serve but to look at new destinations such as Lombok, recently announced as a new port for Jetstar Airways.
“Jetstar Asia is excited to deploy the two new recently acquired aircraft to existing and new destinations in Indonesia, Southeast Asia and beyond,” he said.
Currently, Jetstar Group airlines operate up to 222 weekly flights in and out of Indonesia.
These flights will be easily accessible to customers with the opening of the third Jetstar Travel Shop in Indonesia, located in Pecenongan in Central Jakarta.
Operated by TX Travel, the Jetstar Travel Shop will help customers with their travel needs including purchasing flights and finding out information on destinations. Travel products including hotel accommodation and travel insurance will be available at all the Travel Shops soon.
“We are delighted to open our third travel shop to offer our Indonesian customers an easy way to access our all day every day low fares,” added Mr Pasupathi.
The first two Jetstar Travel Shops, which opened in October 2012 and May 2013 are located in Kelapa Gading in East Jakarta and in Supermal Parkuwon Indah, the largest shopping mall in West Surabaya.
